Suicide rates drastically increase when a nation enters the modern world i.e. where your career is thought of as your main identity.
Punchline – meritocracies don’t exist. We are not all created equal. We do not all have the same shot at achieving our dreams. It’s just not how the world works. If you are born into money, you can do whatever the hell you want. If you are born in poverty, you will probably end up in the system and suffer for your entire life. That’s just the mean averages people. I’m not saying EVERYONE follows those paths, but most people do.
Here’s a better way to think about a career. Choose a job you will not regret on your death bed. While working that job, save your money. Invest your money. Study how to make money with money. If you do that you’ll be fine.
If you fail to follow the above paragraphs advice, you’re going to suffer long term. Why? Having money rocks and not having money sucks. We live in a world ruled by money because the double coincidence of wants exist.
