Millenials will not live as our parents lived because we are fundamentally different people who have grown up in the 3rd industrial revolution i.e. the IoT. There’s a reason why boomers can’t understand us or fear for us – the boomers themselves can’t relate to us. Our minds are so different, so interwoven in vast networks of different people with different perspectives, we’ve figured out many wonderful truths about a good life here on planet earth. And those values, those truths, are different from the American Dream our parents valued and taught us.
There’s nothing wrong with change, I love change. But society needs to stop allienating millenials and start seeing the world through our perspective because the world has changed in fundamental ways. We’re going through a digital revolution, a 6th mass exstinction, and climate change all at the same time.
We have no cold war or bi-polar global powers to contend with. Today we see country after country have deadly altercations with one another. It’s a mess out there, more messy then the previous 100 years.
Millenials and boomers may be related by blood, but their mindsets are fundamentally different in a world that is exponentially changing.
